Who is the winner?
We did a deep dive on 3 of the most popular women's bibs. Let's see which one took the Gold!
We recently received a request through our product review form to evaluate women’s snowboard bibs with an emphasis on durability, warmth, and dryness. After testing three top options—686 GORE-TEX Stretch Dispatch Bib, Burton [ak] Kimmy GORE-TEX 2L Bib Pants, and The North Face Women’s Summit Series Verbier GORE-TEX® Bibs—here’s what we learned to help you find the perfect pair for your next ride.
The 686 Stretch Dispatch Bib is a standout for its combination of high-performance materials and practical features.
Cost: $499
Quick Description: This bib is constructed with GORE-TEX 2L fabric for complete waterproofing and breathability. It features stretch panels for mobility, fleece-lined zones for added warmth, and reinforced knees and cuffs for durability.
Pros:
Warmth: Excellent insulation with fleece-lined chest and lower back.
Dryness: GORE-TEX fabric keeps you dry in heavy snow.
Durability: Reinforced high-wear areas withstand wear and tear.
Comfort: Stretch panels offer great mobility without feeling restrictive.
Cons:
Price: At the higher end of the price spectrum, though slightly more affordable than The North Face option.
Designed in collaboration with pro snowboarder Kimmy Fasani, this bib prioritizes performance and style.
Cost: $489
Quick Description: The Burton [ak] Kimmy Bib features GORE-TEX 2L fabric for waterproofing and breathability, a women-specific fit, and plenty of ventilation options for temperature control.
Pros:
Dryness: Excellent water resistance thanks to GORE-TEX fabric.
Fit: Designed with a flattering, articulated fit that moves with your body.
Ventilation: Strategically placed vents prevent overheating on warm days.
Cons:
Warmth: Less insulation compared to the 686 and North Face bibs, making it better suited for spring riding or layering.
Durability: Lighter materials may not hold up as well over years of frequent use.
This premium bib combines a minimalist design with top-tier performance, perfect for alpine athletes.
Cost: $600
Quick Description: Made with GORE-TEX Pro, this bib offers unparalleled waterproofing and windproofing, paired with reinforced panels for added durability.
Pros:
Dryness: The GORE-TEX Pro material excels in extreme weather conditions.
Warmth: High-quality insulation keeps you comfortable in frigid conditions.
Durability: Reinforced zones are built for long-term use in rugged terrain.
Cons:
Price: The most expensive option by far, making it less accessible for casual riders.
Flexibility: Heavier material and a more technical fit may feel restrictive during high-mobility activities.
After considering all factors, the 686 GORE-TEX Stretch Dispatch Bib emerges as our top choice. It strikes the perfect balance of warmth, dryness, and durability, all while offering the flexibility and comfort you need for long days on the mountain. While it’s a significant investment, its superior performance justifies the price, making it a reliable companion for seasons to come.
The North Face Summit Series Verbier Bib impressed us with its technical performance but comes at a premium cost that may not fit every rider’s budget. Meanwhile, the Burton [ak] Kimmy Bib is a stylish and functional option for milder conditions but lacks the insulation needed for cold-weather days.
